Help pay for Joey's emergency surgery

On Saturday, November 27th, Joey lost all control of her back legs. She wasn't able to lay down, she was shaking severely, and wouldn't stop whimpering. We took her to the emergency vet, who found she had no feeling in her back legs whatsoever. He referred us the closest neurological center immediately, who did an MRI and found she had a ruptured disk. It was so bad that they told us her spine was bruised purple. All of this is known as the worst grade of IVDD, grade 5.

 

Our options were to either get her emergency surgery, or put her down.

 

We got her the surgery. The prognosis was a 50/50 chance she will ever be able to regain control of her bottom half again, but we want to fight for her as much as possible. She means everything to us, and she's so loving, spunky and full of life that we can't let it be cut short.

The cost for the treatment was quoted to be about $8,000. We have to pay half of this up front- qualifying for Care Credit allowed us to admit her immediately, thankfully, which gives us 6 months to pay back. However, we will have to come up with the funds for the other half as soon as possible. We had already used savings to help some family members with their own financial strains, and we will still need to pay for whatever is necessary for her recovery. To be fully transparent, we're not wholly sure how we're going to as of right now.

 

If you can spare anything to cover these expenses, it would help us so much, and we would be so, so grateful. Any amount would take a weight off our shoulders, and let us focus 100% on helping Joey get better.

 

It's going to be a long road and a lot of work, but Joey is worth it.
