Bucket list: Once in a lifetime eclipse trip

I’ve always wanted to experience a total solar eclipse in person. This April 8, 2024 was going to be my chance - at last. I also wanted this to be an educational experience for my daughter.

I planned ahead. I got the family on board with the idea. We booked a rental and I was saving money for a trip to see the eclipse.

Then I got hit with three expensive medical emergencies last year. I tried to hang on to the money I’d saved for the trip but that simply didn’t work. In the blink of an eye, everything I’d saved for the trip was gone.

It’s only an 8-hour drive from home to where the path of totality passes the closest to me. So close, but so out of reach as things stand.

If you want to help, and can help, I’d appreciate it so much. I’ll never get this chance again.

I need gas money at least. Money for some meals would be a bonus, as would money pay for the rental. (I booked it early enough that the price hadn’t gone crazy because of demand yet, but it was to be paid closer to the date of the reservation. If I have to cancel, the property owner will probably be happy to get more money from someone else now, but I’d rather not have to drive both ways in one day, and my daughter would definitely not like that. And I don’t think it would be possible to find another place on this short notice.)
