We are a group of healthcare professionals preparing for a GYN mission trip to Catacamas, Honduras in March 2020. This is our 7th year going down to help the families of Honduras. We are blessed by this opportunity and the support we receive here at home, which enables us to share our gifts with our brothers and sisters in another part of the world.
Why Go Fund Me?
A typical Honduran salary is $300 a year, and 1 GYN surgery is $150 - 1/2 of their annual income. As a result, we are working to raise 100% of the funds to pay for the surgeries needed by women in Honduras. We never want to turn anyone away. Families wait all year for our trip, and they travel miles to see us. Our team is the only GYN group to visit throughout the year.
100% of your generous donation will go directly to the 2020 GYN Medical Mission:
Medical:
- Medicines for anesthesia, antibiotics, pain meds.
- 3,000 limperos= $150: the cost for each surgery/case. If the patient provides, it is 1/2 their yearly income.
- Salaries for Honduran nurses and interpreters who help in the Operating room from the town.
Travel:
- Funds will be used to help offset the cost of travel for the GYN team.
- Transportation of supplies.
- Airfare to Honduras is $900.00/per person roundtrip.
- Transportation to and from airport for GYN team: 4 hours each way.

The GYN Brigade most recently traveled to Honduras from St. Louis, MO in September 2018. This was the team's 6th year traveling to the Hospital Santo Hermano Pedro in Catacamas, Honduras. This hospital helps provide specialty health care to a region of the country that would not receive it otherwise. While most of us had been on some of the prior brigades, some of our team members were experiencing a mission trip for the first time.
The team performed 34 surgeries (in 3 days due to a shortened trip)—ranging from:
- D&C
- perinealplasty; cystocele/rectocele repair
- ovarian cysts/tumor removal
- hysterectomy
We feel blessed to help these women and their families!
Our missions would not be nearly as successful without the help and cooperation of the Hermano San Pedro Hospital staff and the hospitals/surgery centers in the St. Louis area that donate supplies for our trips.
We are seeking medical supply donations for our 2020 trip. Any and all donations of funds or supplies are truly appreciated!
