The Texas Leadership Salute began in 1984 as a way to showcase leadership demonstrated by area high school seniors in the Denton, Texas area. Today, it has grown to include many area high schools throughout the North Texas area.
The mission is to celebrate and showcase our high school leaders in the North Texas area with their families, educators, peers, and others who may not know them in our community. Furthermore, our program aims to recognize one or more outstanding students with a scholarship as a tangible acknowledgement of their high school leadership and academic achievements. Scholarship dollars are raised and made available from businesses and many donors like you! I will award scholarship funds in the spring at the annual scholarship and recognition ceremony. The money donated in this fundraiser will be used 100% for scholarships and program maintenance.
I am excited to be able to showcase over 70 high school senior nominees from the Class of 2018. This year's nominees are representing one of the following area high schools:
Billy Ryan High School - Denton ISD
Denton High School - Denton ISD
Flower Mound High School - Lewisville ISD
John H Guyer High School - Denton ISD
Krum High School - Krum ISD
Lake Dallas High School - Lake Dallas ISD
Lewisville High School - Lewisville ISD
Ponder High School - Ponder ISD
The selection process begins each May of the student's junior year in high school. Local high school administrators and counselors are contacted and asked to nominate students that are proven leaders and high academic achievers in their school. This year I began with 158 nominees. Nominees are asked to complete a detailed biography highlighting their achievements. Today, I am proud to announce I have 73 finalists. This year I will showcase our nominees by April or May 2019. Portrait Displays are shown at Golden Triangle Mall in Denton, TX, Music City Mall in Lewisville, TX, and at the student's respective high school.
I volunteer my time and services to produce a portrait display that showcase each student. Next, a committee of local leaders will review each student's detailed biography and essay and then select our scholarship winner(s) based on academics, leadership, honors, and an essay. The time and cost of maintaining this program varies and this year I am looking at $5000. Your help with the scholarships allows me to manage expenses of the program without compromising scholarship money. I want these students to receive the financial help and recognition they all deserve.
Help me recognize these students in a tangible way with your monetary donation. I will recognize you or your business publicly on our list of donors at the area malls. If you do not wish to be recognized publicly, simply let me know or enter your name as an anonymous donor.
