We are a youth center in Buckhannon, WV and have been in existence since 1998. We have 30-35 basketball teams each season with 375 players ages K-12th grade. We are located in an old elementary school which has a very small gym. Although our little gym gets used a lot with other programs such as Karate, Kick Boxing, Drill Team, Zumba, After School program, Summer Day Camp, Summer Basketball, Birthday Parties, Craft Shows, Talent Show and any other event we might come up with it is too small for kids over 2nd grade to have a full on basketball game. We have really out grown ourselves. We want to expand our current gym/multi-purpose room to accomadate our growing program. For our older leagues we have been renting space from our High School and it is a good relationship but we often lose our space due to their programs and make up games in the winter. We really need our own space so we are not dependent upon borrowed or rented space. On a monthly basis our youth involvement hours are approximently 12000 hours.
The funds from GoFundMe will go toward our new gym/multipurpose room, which will have a full size court with the option to play two games at a time, seating, concessions and a stage area. We hope to have raised the funds within the next six-eight months.
