Fatal Truck Accident Kills 1 Man

Donation protected
On December 3rd, 2017, our family lost someone dear to us. Our brother Bimnet Duta Alem was in a fatal truck accident which left him dead and his good friend injured. When this incident occurred he was on his way to North Carolina to drop off a shipment. He was driving through Mobile, Alabama and veered off the interstate to his death.

On December 3rd, we all woke up and went about our day not knowing that our lives would be changed forever.

Duta Gebre was not only a compassionate son and loving brother, but he was also a hardworking father. He left behind a wife and 3 young kids under the age of 14 back home in Eritrea. Our family fought so hard to bring Duta here to America so he can have better opportunities to provide for his family. So he can work hard and enjoy the fruits of his labor. All he talked about was how he loves his kids and how all of these long hours were for them.

Duta Gebre was only in America for 2 years. Before he even settled in, he was teaching at the Eritrean community center. He had two days every month where he would educate the youth on helping improve Eritrea and ways we can keep our cuture and country alive. He also was helping families of veterans in Eritrea. He was truly an inspiration.

We are reaching out to our community to ask for your help. Till this day, he hasn’t been buried due to issues with investigations and medical examinations. The costs between him being shipped from Alabama to Seattle and then to Eritrea is costly. It has been a hard month financially for our family and our goal is to finally send him to Eritrea, so his wife and kids can say goodbye.

Now, we graciously ask you all to donate what you can, anything helps. We thank you for your generosity and please keep us in your prayers.

All the money donated will go towards the following costs:

-Flying him from state of death to Seattle
-Funeral home costs in Seattle
-Flying him to Eritrea
-Cost of burial in Eritrea

The total cost will be much more than what we are asking but if we can reach this goal it would be a weight lifted off our shoulders and we can finally mourn in peace. Thank you again.
