Support for Families of 2906 W.4th

Donation protected
July 5th fire destroyed 2906 West 4th Avenue.  My friends Bronwen & John and 3 other families lost their homes. I created a GoFundMe  for Bronwen & John and was able to mobilize some support for them.  While incredibly moved and grateful for the outpouring of love from their community, Bronwen & John seemed unsettled. "Of course," I thought. "They have just lost everything."  But that wasn't it. They were worried about their neighbours. The people with whom they had ALSO shared community and connection. The were worried that these folks who meant so much to them were not receiving the same level of care an attention that they were.  Then, in the evening, I received a call and then this email: "Thursday July 5th, day I will never forget. My Name is Terry, I manage a property at 2906 West 4th At 4:58am I got a call from monitoring company, for fire alarm bells, at the property. At first thought, must be false alarm or maybe someone burnt early morning breakfast.  Rushing out the door, in less then minute, and headed north on Macdonald Street, from distance I could see smoke filling sky, I knew right away that this was real, I floored it to building, trying to call tenants on way. Got there, and could see smoke pouring out of rear of apt building, where 4 tenant apartment are located. Felt sick to my stomach, thinking someone could be trapped.  Luckily, scanning the sidewalks, through crowds gathering, and 2 other large buildings evacuated as well. I did find all tenants, So thankful all got out, I was heartbroken to have see their homes, lives going up in the fire, smoke.  As been managing apartments for sometime, and the tenants affected are some of best ever had. All 4 units have 15-25 year long tenants. Never complain. Always a pleasure to see, respectful, do not ask for much.  They are all quiet, to themselves people, and never ask for themselves, So I am asking you all to, step up and help these devastated tenants, people, Turn a tragic event, into positive community cares. Showing that community, neighbours, friends, come together and support them. Show them  that humanity does exist. " Terry had seen how the community had responded to helping Bronwen & John and tracked me down asking if I could help create the same support for the others. So, I am asking that you please join me in responding to Terry's request for help for the other tenants affected by the devastating fire at 2906 West 4th: Peter K. & Lenka R. David L. Please join me in helping these folks rebuild their lives!
