Angela Mencl and Family

On September 6, Angela Mencl lost her sweet heart and best friend,  Gary.  He left behind four beautiful children and was a beloved husband, father, brother and son. Gary was at work, in the middle of preforming a root canal when he experienced chest pain. He called his wife and she grabbed their two youngest children and drove him to the hospital.  After a few routine tests they anticipated sending him back home. They didn't. While in the hospital Gary experienced another heart episode and they discovered a tear in his aorta. He was quickly life-flighted to Portland. He was awake and talking to the flight's medical staff about his recent summer adventures with his children. He expressed only worry for his wife and children. Upon arrival his aorta ruptured as he was being hooked up and underwent 7 hours of open-heart surgery that carried through the night. The tremendous surgeon and supporting staff, did the unthinkable-- they repaired his aorta. But Gary was not out of the woods, he experienced a significant amount of time without blood supply to his brain. His body fought so hard to be with his family, to continue to be an amazing father to his children and a best friend to his wife. I know he gave it everything he had and had his brain been given  more oxygen, I wouldn't be writing this. In the middle of this horror, Angela received even more bad news. Her sister, Kimberly Jones had passed away. Heart ache adding to heart ache Angela remained strong for her children and held them tight. She told them she would be strong. 
Gary passed away Thursday night after a visit from his children and encircled by his family. A loss like this is large. 
As Angela navigates a new life raising her four beautiful children (Landon 7, Jaylee 6, Taylor 3, Alex turns 1 next week) without their father, she needs help in every sense of the word but this page can help her with paying for the medical and funeral costs.  Funeral costs are high and they all need to be paid for up front. If by a miracle we fundraise over the funeral and medical costs Angela will use the left over to set up a trust fund for her children.
