We are Articulate Austin, members of a six-month pilot program led by Esther Bramlett and Devon Adams. We are dancers and choreographers dedicated to generating investment in dance here in our local Austin community and beyond.
More than just creating a show, we are inviting you to be a part of our process--because unlike other artists like writers, musicians, visual artists, etc, today's choreographers are rarely afforded the resources to shape and edit their work along the way. Instead, we often find ourselves functioning under tight production timelines, limited space and budgets, and struggling with an ever-shrinking body of professional dance critics and shrinking dance audiences.
Articulate's mission is to change all of this, and in so doing, not only help choreographers to grow but also to help make dance and the creation of dance accessible to the community at large.
This year, we are hosting three free public works-in-progress through spring and summer 2018, culminating in a final performance September 7-9th at Balance Dance Studios. We have secured payment for our dancers through a generous grant from the City of Austin, but as we approach our final performance we are facing the remainder of our production costs.
This is where you come in! You can help us bridge the gap to make our final performance possible.
All the funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards renting our theater space for three nights and paying our lighting designer!

We make the dance. You bring your brains. Together, our community grows and improves. This pilot program will raise awareness for the need for emerging choreographers to get insight and feedback on work in progress. Renting a theater for the final showing is pivotal in showcasing the hard work of the dancers to the community.
