Seagrape Community Space

Donation protected

When you first walk into Seagrape, you’ll probably notice the amazing smell! Customers regularly walk in, take a big deep breath, and say how relaxed they feel just walking through the door! As you wonder the store (maybe you’re waiting for your turn at one of our monthly drop in palm reading sessions?) you can grab a zine written by a queer witch describing their personal history of making and using brooms (including both English and Spanish), a face mask made with honey from a farm just a few hours away in Sandy, OR, or a magical candle for any ritual you can imagine made by an amazing queer witch in her workshop just two miles from the shop! You can grab a cup of tea, chat with the owner about what products she’s whipping up behind the beautiful wooden counter, or chat with the friendly customer trying to decide which crystals to buy for their friends birthday. Whatever brought you into Seagrape, we strive to provide customers and visitors with a welcoming and kind experience, where questions and exploration are encouraged.

Seagrape’s mission is to cultivate a space that helps make self-care and self-nourishment tangible and accessible, while building community and connection. With our focus on community, we’ve seen a need for larger space and opportunity for education and joy. We’re so excited to announce that Seagrape will be expanding to a larger event space! This space is more physically accessible, including a ramp and ADA bathroom, has a larger capacity, has more opportunities for sliding scale tickets, and can be rented to community partners who need a gorgeous meeting space. We’re so excited to offer this expanded space in the hopes of helping folks cultivate self-care skills, trust in their own magic, and build community and connection.

To create the community space we’re dreaming of, we’ll need your help! We’re asking for donations to help us furnish the space, give it a facelift with paint and lighting, help to make it comfortable with a tea bar for students, and materials for educators including a white board. Any donation will help to foster a space where the community can host workshops that attend to community needs and growth. We’d be so grateful for any donation you’re willing to share with Seagrape!

We're looking to raise $2,600 for furniture, including tables, seating, lighting, rugs, and a projector for class. $1400 for a space facelift including new interior paint, street sinage, and a mural for the space. $500 for educational supplies including a printer and paper, classroom supplies, and a whiteboard and markers. We'll also be using some funds to help throw an opening night party!

Meet Maria: The owner and creator!

Maria Vashakidze is the owner and formulator of Seagrape bath + body, a company started in 2009 out of love for scent. She runs a community oriented brick and mortar shop with a full line of in-house made bath products and well as hand crafted ritual and home adornment goods. With a weakness for baths, tea, and dismantling the patriarchy, there is nothing she'd rather do then run a shop that supports these habits.
Maria is a white, Jewish Russian/ Georgian immigrant working on connecting to her ancestry while tending the unceded territory of the Chinuk Wawa, Chinook, and Multnomah peoples temporarily.
