Save Our Family And Store

Michael started Blush Beauty  fourteen years ago. He has saved customers thousands of dollars on beauty products. Each of our older children has had a hand in this business, learning from their father the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, things they do not teach you in college. Michael and I have younger children too which is the main reason I have stepped in to help. We still have an eleven-year-old daughter and two young boys at home.

They have their little hands in this business as they help unpack distributor deliveries and assemble USPS boxes that your orders come in. This business has been our main source of income for many years now and I do not exaggerate when I tell you that my children, Michael and myself have put our blood, sweat and now tears into it to keep it running and to keep our loyal customers happy.  Michael has shipped to over 60,000 customers.

He has worked hard to stay in competition with Amazon and the big box stores who have limitless marketing resources. To compete with Amazon and the rising cost of shipping Michael could no longer hire help. At times he handled customer service inquiries in the middle of the night and shipped packages seven-days-a-week, 12 plus hours a day. There are times our entire family would be working for hours in our shipping office, answering calls and emails and packaging products to fulfill orders. Michael made the commitment when deciding to start Blush Beauty to work to no end because hard work and diligence is what small business owners know they have to do to keep their livelihood intact. And, because we, his family, love and support him, we are committed too.

What we did not foresee was Michael’s health taking a huge turn for the worse. He was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder about 16 years ago. He coped with it fine until recently when he fell while coaching our daughter’s soccer team. I witnessed the fall, it was not a huge fall at all and he was not doing anything out of the norm. He merely slipped on wet grass. From that though, because of the way his immune system attacks the body, he developed an infection which then spread and caused him to be quarantined in the infectious disease wing of our local hospital. Our children cannot even go to see him while he is hospitalized.

Since the infections, he has tried so hard to come back and run Blush but each time he gets worse and finds it impossible. I had to leave my job to care for Michael and our son who was born with health challenges and developmental issues.

As small business owners, we found ourselves without health insurance. Without health insurance every avenue of treatment is a dead end. Due to the medical bills and Michael being unable to work on Blush we are losing our home and stable environment for our children.

Michael has dedicated a lot of his time to a local charity that brings Christmas to terminally ill children at anytime of year.  It is a cause, as a father, that is important to him. He has filled van loads of toys for these children year after year. He has always had a giving and generous heart. He has employed over 100 people over the years, many who he has guided on to their own successful businesses.

I have stepped in to try and keep Blush Beauty going because not only was it his dream to start something great, but this business is our livelihood. It is how we feed our children. It is our way of ensuring that we provide a life for our children with the goal of having them grow up to become productive and caring contributors to the society they live in. I think one of the best things about Michael being the father of my children has been that he teaches our children to have faith in themselves and also in others, even with all the horrible things that happen in this world. He has never stopped seeing the good in people, a reason why he started Blush Beauty with the mission that he did.

Thank you for even just taking the time to read this and thank you to those who have taken the time to share their kind words and warm wishes.
