Unfortunately, this beloved member of our community has not been located yet. The Search and Rescue team from Anchorage was unable to come to Kake. But Mr. Prysanka and his water dog have agreed graciously to return. We will be using the funds for Mr. Prysanka and his water dog to travel to Kake. The remainder of donations will be used for boat fuel (search boats), and/or the services.
We greatly appreciate all of the generosity. Our hearts are heavy for the family. Reggie AKA Johnson will be very missed. But we are sure that his gentle Soul is shining down on us from Heaven.
Folks, our community of Kake needs donations. A kind and gentle Soul, Reggie Skeek Jr, fell off of our dock, and the entire community has come together to help. The State Troopers showed up. But their resources are limited, and they discontinued the search after a few days. Currently, the boats of our community are scanning the horizon.
We need funds to keep looking. The cost of fueling the boats is quite prohibitive. Also, we have a group, Alaska Search, Rescue and Survival Training, LLC/Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team that is willing to come to Kake. They would bring divers and trained SAR “water dogs.” We still don’t have the amount that it will cost to get them to Kake. But it will be substantial. When an estimate is figured, we will post it to this page. Timing is critical to get this group to Kake, so please donate ASAP if you can!
The donations will go directly to the search. If there is anything left, it will go to the memorial and funeral expenses.
Please consider helping our community find Reggie. He needs to be laid to rest, and his family deserves that closure.
