Support Girls to Women Hawaii!

Help Girls in Hawaii to thrive together!

Who We Are:

We're excited to connect with you and share the vision of Girls to Women Mentoring Hawaii!  We've received word from faculty at local schools on Big Island that girls are advocating for a mentor-ship program, Girls to Women is listening.

Girls To Women Mentoring Hawaii is an all volunteer non-profit organization with a goal to support adolescent girls to develop the relationships, skills, and inner resources they need to develop to their full potential and rise to the many challenges they face, through school-based mentor-ship circles and adventure weekends.

We've been researching the specific needs that girls have and now we need your support to help us fund our program!  Our first program will be launching in collaboration with the University of Hawaii in the Puna region on the Big Island of Hawaii in January 2019.
Our Vision is to expand from there to other parts of the island for a full launch for the 2019/2020 school year.  Mentor-ship circles will be hosted for middle and high school students; we're inclusive of those who  gender identify as girls or are questioning, and we are devoted to serving adolescents in Hawaii, regardless of risk level.

Our Story:

Aloha,

This campaign is introduced to you by a group of women residing on the Big Island, who have spent countless hours over the last year creating an organization to serve adolescent girls on the island.  Creating an organization involves collaboration, dedication, research, and networking (to name a few), of which has brought the women behind this organization tightly together in a harmonious bond.   Working together on this creation has been a joy to us all, we often share that we feel "refueled" after our meetings.  We deeply believe that this essence will trickle down to the mentor circles we hold in schools, and that the foundation of this organizations cohesion and dedication to showing up and working hard, is of honorable service to the adolescents of our community.

Girls to Women Mentoring Hawaii formed in October of 2017, with a shared vision to use the power of circles to help Hawaii’s teenage girls to navigate their journey into womanhood.  Some of us were fortunate to have trusted adults to turn to for encouragement on our own journeys but all of us believe that adult mentors for adolescents is a way we can make a real difference in our community.

We will be using research-based models with proven outcomes to offer girls circles in schools where teens experience emotional safety, encouragement, support and inspiration through healthy relationships with trained adult mentors, each other and most importantly, themselves.

Our evidence based programming focuses on three essential building blocks for growing strong, courageous, confident girls:  long-lasting adult mentor relationships, positive peer interactions and an affirming environment that supports girls to recognize their own inherent strengths and build on them.

We are deeply deeply excited to expand our connections and share this vision with you all.
