Shelby

Shelby was brought to the Rainbow District Animal Shelter on October 31st, 2018.   Shelby, so named by shelter staff, was recovered by Healing Hearts Lost Pet Search & Recovery with a live trap after spending several days alone and afraid wandering the area.  Shelby was first reported, allegedly abandoned, on the side of Municipal Road 55 in Naughton Ontario near Atikameksheng Anishnawbek on Thursday October 25th.    Unfortunately Shelby was injured, probably by a car, sometime during the day on October 31st.  Shelby has been to the veterinarian for an initial assessment and been stabilized, however may have suffered fractures requiring an arthrodesis procedure.  Shelby's x rays have been sent off for further evaluation by a specialist.  Shelby also has 2 broken K-9 teeth that will need to be extracted.

Shelby is estimated to be around two years old.  While she was recovered on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory we do not believe, based on her behaviour and whereabouts in the proceeding days that Shelby is from Atikameksheng Anishnawbek or the Naughton area.

As Shelby's veterinary expenses to get her back on all fours again is estimated to exceed $2000.00 a Go Fund Me Campaign has been set up to help her on her road to recovery.
