Hope for Haven

I am Racquele Welsh-Driscoll, and less than a week ago, my family suffered a traumatic loss: a life, a love, lost way too soon.  My sister Nicole (b. 9/27/1980) committed suicide, leaving behind grief-stricken family and friends, and even more importantly, her beautiful and gentle eleven-year-old son Haven. Though Nicole's sudden death, so difficult to explain, leaves us with such heavy hearts, all of us who knew Nicole know one thing about her that shines even as we grieve- she loved her son.

My nephew Haven Wisdom Scott was born to Nicole and Haven's dad Arric Scott on July 30, 2007. During his time with us, Haven has brought so much light into our lives. People describe him as an "old soul," and his depth of character and spirit has been evident since his mother's passing. Even as we try to support him, he goes out of his way to ask how we are doing. As extraordinary as Haven is, he will need our help in the days, months, and years ahead.

I have organized this campaign to raise funds that will provide Haven with all of the opportunities in life that he deserves, including, but not limited to school supplies, registration fees for sports and other educational and/or recreational activities, travel, medical expenses, clothing, and education. While he will need immediate support, emotional as well as financial, I will be managing this account for Haven so that he is supported and provided for into his adulthood.
