I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 12 years ago when I had my last child. I have been fighting for my life ever since. My condition has caused me to be very sick. I am a proud mother of three sons, four daughters and have two beautiful grandsons. My husband was sent to prison 3 years ago and it has left me and my children to deal with things alone. I have a wonderful family but we are alone in this fight together right now. I lost my job May of this year with the government and have tried very hard to find work. My illness has made it difficult to find a job while I’m sick but I have tried anyway. I actually found a job in November but after being there for two days, I ended up in the hospital because I couldn’t breathe and found out I have a blood clot in my neck. I was aggressively treated for that but my health was not getting any better. I went through several times not being able to breathe but when I called paramedics, they came out and told me I had anxiety and I should slow down my breathing and I will be okay. I had a terrible cough that would happen every time I tried to talk or walk. On Christmas Eve, while visiting with my children, I could not catch my breath for hours. My son kept trying to get me to go to the hospital. I finally agreed and asked him to call an ambulance. The paramedics took one look at me and told me they are taking me to the hospital. They brought me to the hospital and I found out that my lungs and belly was full of fluids and my heart is functioning at 10%. I don’t have any health insurance. I have applied for Obamacare, for jobs and for Medicaid. None of those have worked out so far. I was supposed to start working for a company called Genpact on December 18th but they sent me an email 3 days before and told me that they were not going to hire me after all. I don’t have a criminal background or any bad work history. They would not offer me an explanation and their health insurance would have started the first day of work. Both of my parents are deceased and I don’t have anyone to help me financially. I have been depending on myself all of these years. I am still in the hospital and will be released soon. I need oxygen for home and a life vest to wear to keep my heart beating. The doctor is also preparing to get me a pace maker to keep my heart beating.  Without a job or insurance and these devices, I could die. I made a promise to myself to be deserving of the gift of life through charity. I am the sole caregiver of my children and I’d rather be planning to live than planning to die. Please help me live.
