It feels so good to be back home in Poipet, Cambodia. Being back has been great, but has also presented a major problem! I need a form of transportation!
One of the biggest things that God has spoken to me since being back is to get involved with community development. This job includes: networking with different organizations, families, and businesses in order to provide medical, educational, and mercy ministries in the poorest and most unreached areas. My heart is to allow people to see the LOVE OF JESUS through servitude.
In just a short time, we have been able to help build a school in a slum community [picture below of the building process], build a restuarant (in Cambodia this is just small wood-framed structure large enough for a small stove and ice chest) for a struggling mother to support her three small children, and provide aid to a grandmother struggling to support her 10-year old grandson who has been diagnosed with HIV. God is radically moving in the lives of these people through simple servitude!
This job, however, requires me to be in constant transit from one village to the next. In one week, I travel approximately 200km! Without reliable transportation, this can prove to be a great challenge!
After spending time in prayer, I feel like I should buy a moto. It is the most common form of transportation in Cambodia (most families own one instead of a car) and would allow me to expand my reach, work in more villages, and serve even more Khmer people.
I am looking at getting a used Honda Dream (ranging in 2010-2013 models). They cost around $1200 used (compared to around $2500 new).
I chose the Honda Dream because it is the most reliable and most commonly used moto here in Cambodia. Since it is so common, upkeep and repairs are easy and cheap!
