Help Azine keep breathing and helping others

January 12, 2020 update: Seven months after the last Gofundme update, the situation is similar but now hitting a n extreme crisis point and we need to fundraise at least $1000 immediately to pay past due rent, find a new place for Azine and cover current expenses for food and medication.  Thank you to all who have helped!

June 5, 2019 update: Azine has made it to a safe location, after two weeks of difficult travel with a companion helping.  She's lived alone in a weekly rented apartment for several weeks, with help from a local friend bringing groceries and supplies.

The current situation:

1. Azine is suffering and getting injured cooking on her own and doing so many household tasks over the past month without a full-time in-home caregiver (maybe irreversible, including joint and muscle damage and neurological injury from hypoxia.)  We need to raise funds to get someone to come and help, at least for periods of time, or her healing and survival are jeopardized.

2. Our fundraising network is stretched far beyond its limits.  We urgently need more donations in order to cover costs each day like food, medicine and assistance, in addition to bigger expenses like rent, travel for a caregiver, and searching for and moving into a longer-term house or apartment.

3. Azine needs to move soon, to somewhere cheaper and with cleaner air, probably within an hour of her current location, and we need money to coordinate the search and move-in costs, including security deposit. The apartment where Azine is staying is now  expensive soon due to tourist season, and we need donations each week to pay it.  The air quality is getting worse as more tourists are present with diesel cars and smoking. (Health effects of diesel exhaust emissions

Azine is suffering every day from terrible illness including extreme physical pain and breathing problems caused by Lyme disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and erythromelalgia, directly triggered by inflammation from bad air quality.

The pollution where she lives in the southern Netherlands is so bad it is rarely below moderate levels and frequently at unhealthy for sensitive groups.  Her condition since she has been back there has deteriorated, especially since heavy air pollution due to fireworks around the New Year.

On many days lately, she can't eat anything because her seizures prevent her or because her muscles are cramped in place making swallowing impossible, which also means she can't take her medication as needed.This causes unbearable pain on top of the severe disability. And due to lyme causing her low blood sugar, this is very dangerous: not eating for hours let alone days.

Many of her problems are greatly reduced or go away in environments with cleaner air.

Azine and her mom have tried for years to get medical help in their area and from their village GP, with the results being dismissal and mentions of getting psychological help.  More recently, after extended travel where Azine found she was much better with cleaner air, and found medication that helped, the GP seemed to take her condition more seriously. Then she reneged and is choosing to push the psychological angle by threatening to forcibly put Azine in a psychiatric hospital, like was suggested in the past.

This would be detrimental as she is obviously physically handicapped due to environmental illness.

Her family and friends are working together to manage daily and ongoing costs, but this support is limited and she is seeking help to manage relocation and caregiving in another place, where she can function better and continue her recovery.

This fundraiser is to raise funds for travel to a place with cleaner air, hopefully within the next weeks or months.

Azine wants to be well enough to focus on her life goals, including advocacy for improved air quality around the world, helping others in extreme situations, and sharing her experiences and insight on how to help others going through things like what she has.

During our last fundraiser, the goal was to evacuate Azine during the New Year's Eve week when many people used fireworks nearby, heavily worsening the air quality in the village where Azine is living.

Because we were just short of raising enough funds, she was there during this, which further damaged her neurological functioning, making her more disabled and caused more intense pain than she had ever experienced before.I was with her in person during this, and it was truly terrible. Hence the worsening muscle problems and problems swallowing and unmanagable pain daily.

We know she can function in clean air, we saw it before.
