We are reaching out to all of our friends, well-wishers, our nursing friends, and colleagues,
In 1995, we all graduated from nursing school. While there, we met Doreen. Throughout our years on campus we were study partners, and we all became RN’s.
Doreen was an excellent and hard-working nurse, who approached her work with dedication and love. However, in 2009 she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that spared her life, but left her physically disabled. She was not allowed to go back to work. When Doreen could not go back to work, Albert, her husband, became the sole breadwinner for the family.
Al had always been an energetic, dedicated hard worker who loves his family. As a pharmacist, after college he spent his life working in retail, and later in the hospital caring for others. He was able to do it for over 30 years. However, in May of 2017, Al suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke that left him unable to work. Al remains disabled till this date. Unfortunately, because of his disability, Al fell in January and broke his hip. He needed surgery. Al and his family have tried to stay afloat despite all the unfortunate events. Things were manageable until January of this year, but loss of work meant loss of family health insurance. The out -of-pocket cost for home health care for Al was over $25,000. They have lost all sources of income and have depleted their retirement savings, but their responsibilities and financial obligations continue.
We are reaching out to you to donate whatever you can afford to get this wonderful family afloat, clear off their debts, so they can take off on their own again. We wish them joy and peace of mind in their retirement years after they have given selflessly to so many, for so many years.
