Honor Tippy by Standing Up to Cancer

At some point, everybody asks themselves what they would do if they were given a year to live. It’s not something that most people ever think could happen to them, and luckily, it usually doesn’t. Those that are close to our family are already aware of the misfortune that had fallen upon us as we faced just such a question.
In May of 2018, our mother, Tippy(as her friends know her), was diagnosed with an incurable, stage four brain tumor. Under the best of circumstances, it remained likely that surgery, extensive chemo, and radiation therapy may extend her life for up to 14 months. Within that time, she had become weak, lost the ability to walk or speak. She had faded into a shadow of the once vibrant person that she was only a year prior. Nonetheless, she maintained her sense of humor and her love for her family. Now, it is with a great deal of heartache that we must announce that she passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 14, 2019.
It is entirely thanks to advances in modern medicine and cancer research that our family was gifted with a year to make the most of. While we are deeply heartbroken that it is too late for our mother, we are profoundly grateful for the extra time that we were given to spend with her.
