HIV Testing Kits for the People of Uganda

Hello our names are Canyon Hohenstein, Rachel Donnelly and Nicole Henriksen. We are doing HIV prevention work in Uganda for the next three months. Currently 8% of the Ugandan population (5 million people) are confirmed to have HIV, unfortunately this is only confirmed cases. There exists millions of other people who have no idea they have this preventable and manageable STI. Everyday we go out into the communities and educate the population on ways to prevent HIV as well as test people to see if they have HIV or not. The testing kits cost $60 USD each, and each kit comes with 100 strips which means we are able to test 100 people per kit. Volunteers have to spend their own money in order to buy these kits, something which we would wholeheartedly do at a moments notice but all of us are already living on a tight budget and don't have any discretionary money to spend. That is why we created this GoFundMe. With the help of our friends, family, and community we earnestly hope we can get to $1,500, money which we will use to buy 25 kits, enough to test 2,500 people. We are out here because we want to build a world where everyone, from all of you reading this to these sweet little children, can have a life free of misery and strife. We will work tirelessly to make this dream a reality, but we can't do it alone. Together all of us can turn the tide against this horrific affliction and leave this world a little better than we found it.
