"Affordable housing is needed in Pittsburgh, PA!"
I provide affordable housing for the needy (low income) and underprivileged. (see photos above)
My story: This is a 5 unit dwelling and for the past 26 years I have owned, lived in, renovated and rented out apartments in my house to low income and underprivileged individuals. Sometimes those individuals have emotional and /or mild mental issues but are able to live on their own.
Over time however, some repairs were needed and made by myself as I have been the sole caretaker, groundskeeper and maintenance person. And although it may need some cosmetic work on the outside, the apartments themselves are always presentable to prospective tenants. Now the time has come when some assistance is needed. There is a need for two small decks, a fire escape, gutters / downspouts and sidewalk repair. This will bring the house up to code and make it more accessible.
There is a lot of construction and renovation going on in the Pittsburgh area; condos, townhouses, lofts, apartments, hotels and office buildings. This is designed to bring in more business and revenue ("gentrification?") to the Pittsburgh area, most of which come in from out of town. This drives out the current population who can no longer afford to live within the city limits. I can help some of the less fortunate by renting out apartments in my house at rates far below the current market value, but I need to bring the house up to code and for safety measures. These renovations will also enable me to pass inspection from the local agencies that are looking for affordable housing for their low income, underprivileged clients and help them get back on their feet.
Hence, my GoFundMe campaign: gf.me/u/twrsb8. A donation of just $5 will go a long way in helping me to make the necessary repairs and continue to provide affordable housing for the low-income and myself. "Can you please help and spread the word?"
(*Update) I provide affordable housing in the Pittsburgh area that's already being saturated by construction and renovation. This has raised the cost of living in Pittsburgh to where it's no longer affordable for the low-income individual. Some call it "gentrification." I am making some repairs to a house that has 5 apartments in it that already houses low-income tenants. Some repairs are needed: fire escape, gutters/downspouts, and some sidewalk repair. Please make a donation to this very needy and worthy cause. (gf.me/u/twrsb8) The house is located at: 440 South Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15221 - google it) Thank you in advance.
