Asking for lots and lots of prayers for endurance...Skyler has started his long journey home in the wee hours of our morning...it has already been

one taxi and
one plane.

He’s in a lot of pain already and still has

one more hour of a taxi
three more plane rides
2 long layovers...

25 more hours of travel #overwhelmed

✈️ Quick update #3 on Skyler and prayer request ✈️

So what’s pretty incredible is it ‘just so happens’ that a dear friend of mine through PMB Cathleen Strand-O'Shea left for Thailand a couple of days ago to visit HER son. She landed and is mailing some ‘good stuff’ from within the country. PLEASE PRAY THAT IT GETS TO SKYLER QUICKLY to provide ‘discomfort’ relief. His broken rib makes it hard to breathe and do much besides lay in bed, especially only having one functional foot and hand. He says he has never been in this much full body pain. So this would be a huge blessing. Thank you for praying!

We are so grateful for the funds coming in to help with medical, flight, transportation and living expenses. This is going to be a long road. Not sure when he will be up for flying again. It took a lot out of him— we predict at least a couple of weeks before he’s able to.

✈️ Update on Skyler #2 ✈️

Skyler made it to Thailand. It was a very painful, long journey and his foot is pretty swollen. At one point his neighbor on the plane helped him tie his foot to the ceiling to get some elevation! He slept for about 12 hours straight upon arrival— he was exhausted! He plans on getting to the hospital to be recasted soon.

He’s so grateful to be reunited with a friend and for all of the support he sees our community providing from afar. Thank you for your prayers ♥️

Cheri and Keith Mencke’s son Skyler was in a serious motorcycle accident in Bali, Indonesia. As he was going through an intersection, a van pulled out and then stopped in the middle—he was forced to brake and swerve to avoid hitting that van and collided with a large passenger van in the oncoming lane. The person who caused the accident fled the scene immediately and left Skyler laying in the street. Some Balinese locals came to help him out of the street after the crash. It’s hard to tell everything that’s wrong right now (more issues continue to arise as the adrenaline wears off) but as of now he has a fractured foot, dislocated/fractured wrist, a fractured rib, trauma to sternum/chest, and plenty of road rash/burns/cuts all over. He also has pretty bad whiplash and hit his head so hard that his helmet split in half upon impact. Head injuries are difficult to gauge but we’re keeping an eye on the head to watch for signs of a concussion/head trauma. Internal injuries are also a concern. Surgery for his foot/wrist have been suggested by the Balinese doctors but they are seeking counsel in the US as well. They are trying to figure out the best plan to get him home— he is in no shape to make the 26hr journey alone back to the US with bags and camera gear. With a foot and wrist out of commission, and significant chest/ribs trauma and burns, he is pretty immobile. He will have about an eight week recovery time. If he can stay in Asia for a bit longer, he should be able to recover enough to fly home. Possibly with one of the parents accompanying. We are looking for aid for flight costs, in-country transportation, overseas medical bills, living expenses and inability to work. The Mencke Family Thanks you for your donation to help Skyler. This means the world to us Lynda we truly appreciate it. This would significantly lighten our load ♥️
