Close to Home traces a pilgrimage we all have in our hearts: the search for home.
"For me, home is a secret that will not reveal itself, and each house I live in soon becomes haunted by old ghosts. Over the past two years I have documented a painful journey of hope through song: I have experienced my deepest darknesses and my most treasured illuminations. I could not tell you exactly where it has got me, but I do believe I am a little closer to home. And I’d like to bring you along with me.
"These are some of my most direct and intimate songs yet, including an early song written when I was just fifteen which I have never shared before. Songwriting has been a survival mechanism for me since I was teenager, and this album contains my private reflections on self-abuse and self-resurrection.
"This will be my first self-produced album, so it is a hugely important step for me. I’ll be collaborating with exceptional double bass player John Parker, sound-engineer and electric guitarist Bobby Williams, and a handful of guest musicians.
"I am aiming to raise £1500, which will pay for 60 hours of studio time. This will allow me to record, mix and master the new album, ready for release Spring/Summer next year.
"Thank you as always for listening to my voice, and encouraging me to continue to share my explorations with you. I am deeply grateful for any support you are able to offer me in bringing these songs into the world. I hope they will give you the same solace they have given me."

About Burning Salt
Burning Salt is a collaborative music project headed by Hannah Hull, singer-songwriter and artist.
Hull is known for her startlingly honest songs and distinctive low-register voice. Fans have described her unusual vocal style as “scraped out of an ashtray somewhere in the early 90s,” and “Friday night meets Sunday morning.”
Poetic, raw and alive, Burning Salt’s sound draws on folk, pop, country and blues. A genre-bending approach in the vein of PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Tom Waits.
Burning Salt is an independent project releasing on Hull’s own label, Lullaby Records.
Highlights of 2019 include being nominated 'Rising Star' in Folking’s International Folk Awards and being featured on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction.
