This World AIDS Day, help us end the stigma around HIV!
In 2018, 1.7 million people were diagnosed with HIV worldwide, and nearly 770,000 people died of AIDS-related illness. With today's treatments, these transmissions and deaths are entirely preventable, but too often the stigma around HIV/AIDS keeps people from getting tested and receiving the care they need.
However, when people with HIV can live openly and healthily, other people learn to be less afraid and the stigma starts to break down. With this in mind, a cast of HIV-positive performers will take the spotlight on December 1st, performing works by writers with HIV in The Red Ribbon Revue at NYC’s Abrons Arts Center. By raising our voices and telling our stories without shame, we aim to empower others to seek testing and treatment.
That is why The Red Ribbon Revue is teaming up with mothers2mothers: m2m not only employs women with HIV and trains them to administer vital care to other women with HIV, but also helps these women become the face of HIV in their communities: on treatment, healthy, and active in fighting this epidemic.
