Lead the race

Here is a little part of Salomon's life living with his family in Duncan, Vancouver Island, BC. (you can also watch the video here when we went on ChekNews : https://www.cheknews.ca/he-just-wants-to-run-duncan-mother-raises-money-for-sons-cerebral-palsy-procedure-694787/)

Since his first hours of life, Salomon is a warrior. He was born at 6 months of pregnancy and spent the first 2 months and a half of his life in the hospital. This premature birth left traces in his brain and his motor skills were reduced. He suffers from cerebral palsy, called spastic diplegia.

For life? That's what we thought, but brain and fascia research has evolved so much in the last few years that we are now convinced that its disability can be cured if affected parties are appropriately stimulated.

That's what makes us so confident ...

• A few months after arriving in Canada from France in August 2017, progress has been rapid due to a person-centered approach and active participation in treatment.

• The appointments with the doctors (pediatrician and orthopedic surgeon) were for the first time full of hope: "Salomon, you do not need your wheelchair. You have the physical and mental potential to strengthen your muscles”.

• At school, Salomon was surrounded in an extremely benevolent way that allowed us to give meaning to the word "inclusion" and made it easier for Salomon to find his place among his peers.

While he was often in a wheelchair in France, today, Salomon uses his wheelchair only for long distances or at school to ensure good posture throughout the day. Its evolution is PHENOMENAL.

HE IS AT ONE STEP TO THE PODIUM!

One step, because the spasticity (hypertension) of his muscles prevents him from putting his feet properly on the ground and does not give him enough impetus to be fast. It's his only goal "I want to run faster, mom!”, "I'm fed up with not getting the ball in soccer. "

As of today, his motor skills and the energy needed for physical exertion prevent him from joining sports clubs with his friends and he must, for example, stay in his chair for the weekly race at school.

But Salomon is a COMPETITOR! He wants to show what his mind is capable of! For himself and for others!

In early 2019, we had the chance to discover the Anat Baniel Method (www.anatbanielmethod.com  ) through Jenny Abrams (www.jennyinmotion.com ) and Fiona McLagan (www.prodigymovement.ca  ).

The results from these sessions are again AWESOME and ENCOURAGING:

• Salomon is able to be more focused on his walking pattern and for the first time begins to slow down,

• he opens up to his emotional and physical sensations,

• he gains in self-esteem ...

After a few months of follow-up with the Anat Baniel Method, we are convinced that each person has an infinite potential if they have respectful guidance using the incredible plasticity of the brain.

What we thought was damaged is ultimately a source of healing. The brain is GREAT!

And then everything accelerated while a new life was opening to Salomon.

Through Jenny, we got in touch with an American doctor from New Jersey who performs a totally innovative, non-invasive operation called "Selective Percutaneous Myofascial Lengthening". This operation is very encouraging in terms of results and could help him to realize his simple dream: TO RUN FASTER.

But this operation has a cost: CAN $ 22,000 (without transport costs) and despite our hopes, we are now limited by our financial means. Salomon being very autonomous and independent, he does not fit in the boxes of the handicap which one grants funds.

Throughout 2020, we continued our efforts and learned that the transport costs could be covered by the Foundation "Help Fill A Dream".

But CAN $ 22,000 is a very important sum for our family.

The prize for being able to accomplish the sporting exploits that Salomon dreams of so much.

Help us to give Salomon the happiness of speed.

We want to help him enjoy life.

We want to give him the chance to leave less room for disability in his life.

We want to continue to see him appreciate his progress and his metamorphosis ...

We want to show him that anything is possible.

These past two years have been great and we now want to see him RUNNING! We know that its potential would become unlimited!

Thank you, friends!

Despite the challenges we've faced since his birth, Salomon is our warrior of light! He changed our vision of the world and allowed us to reveal our inner light that now makes us appreciate every moment of Life.

With love,

Maria, Marc-Antoine, Salomon and Donovan

A vie ?
