Encouraging Women Across All Borders (EWAAB)

Women are underrepresented at the top across all fields. This is true in fields that are female dominated at the undergraduate level such as Pharmacy, in those that are split in unversity such as Business, and in those that have less than 50% female representation such as majors in the STEM fields.

We believe that this is due to a lack of confidence. For centuries, women were viewed as intellectually inferior, and many women today still battle with the feeling that they are.

Encouraging women to take on leadership roles cannot be done with quotas, but we believe that it can be done by offering personal mentorship from inspirational role models. This is what Encouraging Women Across All Borders aims to do: motivate young women by teaching them communication and leadership skills while connecting them to a global support network of other inspiring women.

The program offers 8 personalized sessions for first year female undergraduates, where they learn about making an introduction, giving and receiving feedback, public speaking and effective communication to name a few examples. Currently, we are operating at 8 universities across the globe in 6 different countries!

Our goals are first to sustain, then to expand. We are looking into non-profit status, but our main goal is to raise funding to improve our infrastructure for next year’s program.

All of the money donated would go towards one of the following:

1. Attaining better infrastructure for the program such as mentoring and networking software that will allow the participants and the mentors to connect with each other more easily, allowing mentors to keep track of their progress in an organized way. A better infrastructure is crucial for expansion to more universities and more students.

2. An annual  summit that allows all of the participants from the different universities to come together to make in-person connections, participate in leadership activities, and listen to inspirational speakers.

We are hoping to raise $5000 to start so that we can achieve our first goal. Upon attaining improved infrastructure for sustaining the program, we will begin to focus on expansion and planning for the annual conference. We are moving in the direction of becoming an official non-profit as well.

We appreciate any donations. We are still in the early stages of the program, but we have already seen the demand for it in terms of the mentors and the mentees, and we believe that the program has the potential to help many students across the world.

We thank you for your time and consideration, and for helping us confront perceived female inferiority.
