Vince Saleme's Motorcycle Accident

On 09OCT2019 Vince was riding his motorcycle down the right lane of the highway access road when a Ford Expedition stuck in line in the left lane had a change of heart and abruptly entered Vince's lane and struck him, sending his self flying into a ditch and his bike into a lake. The other driver was ticketed as the at-fault driver and witnesses said Vince was not speeding or acting irresponsibly.
Vince is currently in a non-medically-induced coma at Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston with swelling in his brain, broken vertebra in his neck, fluid in his lungs, a crushed ankle, broken leg, and several broken ribs. It is not yet known the extent of the damage to his neck or nervous system. It is not yet known if/when he might come out of the coma. Catherine is living in the hospital waiting room.
This is the kind of thing some people don't recover from. This is the kind of thing that when people do recover, it takes months to years and they aren't the same. We don't know how much this will cost or how long recovery will take, but we know it won't be fast or cheap. Potentially more than a year and several hundred thousand dollars. During that time Vince's income will be missing from the equation.
Vince & Catherine don't have health insurance or a rainy day fund. All of his care will have to paid out of (an empty) pocket. Any reimbursement from the other driver's insurance will not be likely be seen for a very long time. The amount we are asking for is just to cover the first wave of bills when they start rolling in. They will need ongoing help, and this GoFundMe might be amended or superceded by a more specific one at some point.
We are extremely grateful for any monetary assistance that anyone can provide, and non-monetary assistance as well. If anyone has experience or helpful resources to suggest, we are all ears. We've never done this before.
