Re-build a Home for Survivors of Domestic Violence

Tax deductible
On a Sunday night in late September, while residents of the emergency shelter prepared for the busy week ahead, and children sat down for dinner, the sprinkler system was triggered, resulting in severe flooding.  Residents and staff watched as water drenched their personal belongings, water filled the halls and water poured from the ceilings.  Thankfully, TFVS staff  evacuated families and no one was harmed. However, the emergency shelter, which serves as a safe haven for adults and children fleeing domestic violence was significantly damaged.  Walls, floors, and ceilings  had to be gutted and furnishings discarded due to moisture damage and risk of mold. Families impacted by the catastrophe, once again, had to pack what could be saved and move into temporary housing, which is an additional unexpected cost to the agency.

After assessing the damage, the re-building process will take a few months, with an anticipated reopening date of February 2020 In the meantime, TFVS will continue to assist victims of domestic violence who are fleeing abuse with emergency shelter, at undisclosed safe houses throughout the community.

We know how much courage it takes a for a victim to make that call, and to leave, therefore we are committed to responding and helping despite our circumstances. We acquired temporary space to continue to shelter survivors resulting in unexpected additional expenses.

Want to join me in making a difference?  Transitions Family Violence Services is raising funds to re-build its emergency shelter for adults and children fleeing abuse. Your donation of any size will help make an impact. Your contribution will support the following:
