If you've followed my story for a long time you know that I have been slowly trying to rebuild my life since the year that shall not be named (2016). I lost my mom that year, and the world lost an election.
I lost everything that year, including my good credit rating and any remaining confidence I had in myself or my abilities.
I entered the on demand economy this year hoping it would be my saving Grace, but in many ways it has become almost the opposite. I currently rent the vehicle I use through Lyft's Express Drive program, which is little more than a modern day progrom of indentured servitude. My car payment is over $1000 a month and I must follow very specific rules and meet a specific set of goals every week for the privilege of paying too much money for a vehicle that often has major mechanical/safety problems, is tethered to a corporate system that preys on people like myself, which I can lose every week and must travel 90 mins each way every other month for inspection/renewal just to continue paying too much.
I will never make enough to break out of this cycle unless I own my own vehicle.
I need a new or next to new vehicle (with warranty still intact) in order to beat this system. My credit score is still terrible so to secure a decent vehicle with a reasonable payment I must produce a down payment between $1800 and $3000.
So that's where I am.
I would appreciate your help more than you know.
