Bryan Joseph Wegert, age 61, passed away on Thursday,December 26th, 2019 after his long battle with cancer. Bryan died at his home, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Bryan was born on October 19, 1958 to Theodore Wegert and Kathryn ‘Clarke’ Morgan in Riverhead, NY.

Born into a sports family, Bryan was raised to be a lover of sports. His family cherished enjoying sports together, typically on Sundays, at Grandma’s House, with lots of food. Bryan could always be found watching, listening to, or talking about sports and he loved that he got to continue his traditions with his family. Football Sundays at Bryan and Robin’s House became a family tradition with football, food and tons of memories made in the Bronco Room. Having his kids and grandkids over every Sunday was one of his greatest joys.

Bryan moved from New York to Black Forest, Colorado in the early 1970’s. He attended Air Academy Junior High School then graduated from Air Academy High School in 1977. He went by Bryan Latham while attending Air Academy, participating on the golf team and wrestling teams. Bryan’s passion for sports was passed on not only to his children and grand children, but also to other kids he coached and mentored throughout his life.

Over 40 years ago Bryan met the love of his life, Robin. A few years later they married on May 28th, just weeks before their first daughter was born. The next 36 years would be filled with two more daughters, four grandchildren, multiple cross country moves, countless job changes, family vacations, marriages, births, deaths, and endless memories. One of Bryan’s greatest accomplishments was starting a family with hardly anything and building that into a wonderful life with his wife, kids and grandchildren.

Bryan was just as dedicated to his job as he was to his family, devoting almost 50 years to the golf course industry. He loved the game of golf and took great pride in making his golf course the best looking course. Bryan loved the challenge of the game of golf because he believed he could always get better and he was always working on improving his game. His passion for golf was infectious and playing a round with him was always a great time.

Throughout his life, Bryan assumed many roles, allowing him to impact those around him without even trying. He was a man who led by example and prided himself on his loyalty and integrity. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his daughters Mary Wegert, Jennifer Wegert, Samantha (Justin) Sherman; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexander, Elizabeth, and Kairos; his mother, Kathryn (William); his sister Sheryl (Rick) Cave; his sister-in-law Marcia Click; his brother-in-law Anthony Seme; his nephews and nieces, Adam (Stephanie) Click, Ric (Carissa) Cave, Alysa Brown, Maddison (Joseph) Lynn, Lexi Seme, Wade Brown; many great-nephews and great-nieces; his best friends, Larry Vicory and Gary Traphagan; longtime friend Mark Fontana; and countless other family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on January 19th, 2020 at 11am at the Black Forest Community Center located at 12530 Black Forest Rd, Black Forest CO, 80908. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Bryan Wegert Memorial Fund through Go Fund Me (gf.me/u/w9fhpg). Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Bryan will be greatly missed by many.

Help my Grandpa, Bryan Wegert, beat colon cancer. My Grandpa and Grandma have already spent their entire savings to beat my Grandpa's cancer. I need your help so Grandpa can get a surgery to get rid of all his cancer. My Grandpa taught me how to ride a bike like a big kid and fish with my very own fishing pole. My Grandpa takes me camping and we even get to hunt for bugs. My favorite is spending the night at their house and helping him fix stuff. I love my Grandpa very much. Please help my Grandpa get his surgery.
