Affordable Art Campaign

Hand cutting paper is a form of meditation for me. I use it as therapy to battle anxiety disorders, depression, and to help remind me to be present in the moment. My goal is to make art that gives me serenity while creating it, and then does the same for others when they look at it.

While most papercut art is black or white and a single sheet, I've always used multiple layers and the full spectrum of color. I challenge myself with seeing how intricately I can cut, how deep I can stack a design, and how complex of a palette I can master. My inspirations come from the organic patterns in nature, traditional decorative arts, and the Golden Age of Illustration (the art of faiytales and folklore.) The results are precious windows into abstracted worlds.

Sharing my work with the world has brought me a great deal of confidence, both in myself and in my art. I feel that I am finally making the creations I've dreamed of my entire life. On this path I am my whole self, and am honored to be inspiring others. But it also takes all of my time and energy to follow this path. I have been working overtime for years now, to try and transition into making a living as an artist. Unfortunately most people-- myself included-- can't bring home original art. I spent an entire year driving down my prices until I was asking less than a $1 per hour, in hopes of finding a successful price point. But the most common response I got to purchase inquiries was still "I love it, but I can't afford it."

So in an effort to make my art accessible to everyone, I've made a huge investment in a lasercutter for reproductions. With it I can create affordable editions of wall art, artist books, cards, bookmarks, and more. Paper art that everyone can take home with them, regardless of budget. The machine was a necessary step in getting my art business off the ground, but is also so expensive that it puts that same business in peril.

With this campaign I will be able to cover the costs of the machine that allows me to make my art accessible to all, so I can continue to pursue meditation through my original hand cut work. To thank you for contributing towards my goal, I've created some special edition pieces only available here, for a limited time.

For a $5 contribution, you'll receive a Fairytale Skyline bookmark.

For a $25 contribution, you'll receive a special edition Accordion-Folded Treescape.
(See it in action here )

For a $50 contribution, you'll receive a special edition six-layer Abstract Landscape Artist Book, available in a warm or cool palette.

(Watch a page-through video here-- and yes, that's a castle on the hill and a secret cave dwelling hidden beneath it!)

For a $100 contribution, you'll receive the special edition Abstract Landscape Artist Book (warm or cool), hand-embellished with metallic ink and personally inscribed.

Even a dollar means a lot.

Thank you.
