Saving Cats of North Carolina
Donation protected
For many reasons, none of them good reasons, NC has a significant cat overpopulation issue resulting in very high state-wide shelter euthanasia rates. In 2018, county shelters in North Carolina killed 47,000 cats - the 3rd highest kill rate behind California and Texas. Five years ago when I moved here and learned of this, I knew I needed to do something.
Since moving to NC in 2014, I have been working to save lives. I have volunteered with rescue groups, fostered over 100 cats, trapped & spayed/neutered many many feral cats, reunited lost cats with owners to prevent them from going to the shelter, I have taken fragile, sick, and dying cats into my care and nursed them back to health, I have crawled under and into strange places to retrieve cats or kittens in need, I have held cats in my arms while they passed when there was nothing more that could be done to save them.
I am moving into the next phase of my work to save lives and asking for your help. I have created a 501c3 tax-exempt non-profit called, Carolina Cat Rescue (CCR). Carolina Cat Rescue's mission is to provide short-term fostering for high risk cats and kittens and then transport the kitties to no-kill rescues in New England. In 2019, over 100 cats and kittens from NC were transported North and within days found loving homes.
Your donations will support the costs associated with short-term fostering and transport. The kitties need to pass a health inspection before travel and each State and rescue requires medical procedures (vaccines, tests, deworming, flea treatment, Spay/neuter, etc) to be completed prior to transport. In addition to medical procedures there are supplies needed to transport the kitties North (crates, puppy pads, cleaning supplies, litter, etc). Every donation will go to directly support saving the lives of kitties at risk of euthanasia.
All cats have the right to live a safe, happy life in a loving home, and CCR will work hard to make sure that happens. Please help.
