Skywater Sanctuary and Rescue Ranch

Since 2011 Skywater Sanctuary has taken in injured, orphaned, abandoned wildlife along with domestic birds and unwanted farm animals. It is a five acre rescue ranch located in Wilton, CA and provides prairie and vernal pool habitat for migrating birds whilst existing as a forever home for our permanent residents.  In the latter part 2018 Skywater Sanctuary became a 501 3c non-profit, and the needs of the community have escalated. For example, Skywater began to take in selected farm animals in need including sheep and llamas.  We recently rescued a small sheep that had a severe hoof disease and was facing lameness without interventions she was rescued by her neighbors after her mate was mauled and killed by a pair of dogs. This year we also took in 75 chickens from a SPCA rescue at an abandoned hunting club. Daily we care for and feed orphaned and injured wild and domestic birds and animals.  We are a hub for intakes and triage for injured wildlife in the area, and give them immediate care while contacting specialist rehabilitators to care for them, and work closely with surrounding animal control officers and agencies.  We also provide rehabilitation and forever homes for many waterfowl and other birds, and provide advisory services for the community.
This is just a sampling of what Skywater Sanctuary and Rescue does everyday.  Our operating costs are now up into the $1000s.
