Tribe Named Athari FUND (LDNBLM)

Tribe Named Athari (LDNBLM) is a youth-led movement calling for black liberation and racial justice through healing, direct action and radical education.

As you all know, this week we have seen a huge wave in protests in the UK sparked by the murder of George Floyd. However, we are not only fighting for our brothers and sisters that have been murdered in the U.S but we fight for Mark Dugan, Edson Da Costa, Belly Mujinga, Shukri Abdi, Tina Ezekwe, Uwavera Omozuwa, and more.

We fight for the injustices caused by our government surrounding the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the nonchalant and inhumane treatment towards members of the Windrush generation. We fight for every injustice we face as a race. We are exposing ourselves to COVID-19 and risking our lives to free ourselves from a system drenched in racism. The UK Government is complicit and has continuously been complacent in making changes and adjustments to the systems that oppress Black communities. We want to empower those in our community and encourage solidarity.

As of yet, Tribe Named Athari has been acting as an information and facilitation hub for the Black Lives Matter protests in and across London. Offering support, advice, and direction. Whilst we were not the organisers behind the protests that have so far occurred, we are working in tandem with the organisers to keep the protests, as safe as possible, supplied with PPE, legal support, first aiders and other essentials. However we are in the middle of a transition from being solely an information hub to a movement. Our fight for Black Lives does not and will not stop here.

Why we need funds?

- Care Packages
At TNA, we are all about the black community, which is why we have decided to distribute care packages to those most in need. Care is at the core of what we do; we came about by facilitating protests when there werent many others stepping up to do so0, therefore the welfare of our community is very important to us.
These care packages will provide food, toiletries and sanitary products. The first 80 will go to individuals on a priority list (supplied by the London Renters' Union and other grassroot groups/ charities), and the other packages will be for our brothers and sisters in our local areas.

- Community Projects
We are always trying to find ways to grow and strengthen the Tribe, which is why we like to collaborate with organisations and people that have the same vision as us. We are currently working on a project involving black agricultural farmers/beekeepers in Wales we aim to send young black Londoners over so they can learn about land and sustainability and get them away from a world of a concrete for a couple days. They will learn about methods to preserve crops, the importance of bees and beekeeping, as well as learning about plastic alternatives made from inedible fungi. We hope in the future it can become a solution to ease the school to prison pipeline as we believe connecting with nature serves as a method of reformation. The execution of this idea requires investment for travel and accommodation.

- We are providing essentials at protests such as masks, banners, food and water.

- We are also looking to use money to support our protestors and help keep them safe by supporting with legal support as well as first aid

- We are currently developing plans to do movement building and strategy planning.

- We are also organising projects and campaigns focused on healing relief and healing release as well as making change within our local communities.

- Purchasing and making materials

- Developing educational materials, resources and workshops

- Protest actions
