COVID-19 Relief Funds for VIN

Help us help the marginalized communities of Nepal!

We are all aware of the impact that COVID-19 has on businesses around the world. Products cannot be sold, and services cannot be provided, while the business costs keep constant. This is particularly challenging for NGOs, who work tirelessly to support communities with the prevention of COVID-19 spread. Volunteers Initiative Nepal is such an NGO which needs YOUR help to continue its work to protect the most marginalized communities in Nepal!

Nepali society is characterized by its caste system and the related inequality between groups in society. Persons in the lower castes have far less access to education, employment, and health services, and often face mistreatment and discrimination. VIN actively supports these marginalized people to empower them to build a life for themselves.

As an NGO, VIN has really felt the effect of the global pandemic. Due to the suspension of international travel to Nepal, VIN have lost the majority of their field workforce (comprised of international volunteers), and the large portion of their income that this generates. As a result, VIN may not be able to restart its projects in women’s and youth empowerment, children’s development, health, environmental conservation, and disaster repair and relief when the lockdown is lifted.

In fact, VIN has designed project plans to combine its existing work with COVID-19 prevention (e.g., support to over 300 local women-entrepreneurs to take part and receive training, support and guidance to start and upgrade their soap-making business).

However, we cannot start these efforts without YOUR HELP! We need your support to:

·       Start projects to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in marginalized communities in Nepal and raise awareness on hygiene practices.
·       Re-start existing, highly successful projects with marginalized communities.
·       Prepare for “life after COVID” by identifying key challenges faced by communities due to the lockdown and designing fitting interventions..

Any amount you can spare can already make a difference! For example:

·       10 €- provides liquid hand wash for 5 families
·       50 €- educates 50 families about covid 19 prevention
·       100 € -provides a soap-making training to 15 women
.       200€ Supports Protective gears and sanitation items for a health post
.       300€ supports a staff salary for a month
