International Lolita Day for the BLC
It’s International Lolita Day!
Given the series of events that affects black people all over the world, I really wanted to do something for ILD for the African diaspora, by developing a seriesnof “panels” via Facebook Live about different topics and subjects related to Lolita fashion and black creatives.
Videos will be first hosted on the Black Lolita Community on Facebook (members only), then the lives will be reposted on YouTube and Instagram for non-members to enjoy as well!
On SATURDAY, JUNE 6th, we will hear from:
- Jherrica, a.k.a. Saxon Blues, as well as myself about Lolita events and the future of events for the Lolita community
- Samantha Rei, designer, one of the pioneers of the western gothic Lolita indie brand world, and the first black Lolita designer, about her journey in the Lolita community, her time on Project Runway, her current inspirations for future works
- Aydrea Walden, Crestor of “Black Girl in a Big Dress” will be joining us in full formal wear for a discussion about her filming work, her interest in historical roleplay and more!
I am seeking to fundraiser at least $500 for:
1) A love gift of $100 for each of our speakers, to support our black creators during this pandemic and social unrest
2) Donations that will be made on behalf of the BLC to two non-profit organizations that are close to my heart-
— The Okra Project, a NPO that provides meals by Black Trans chefs for Black Transpeople in need
— Loveland Foundation, an NPO that focuses on gathering funds for black women and girls to afford much needed mental health therapy services
If we exceed our $500 goal, the excess amount will be divided evenly between the two non-profits!
Edit: We made our initial goal! I increased the goal, let’s see how much we can get today!
