Active Duty Family - Catastrophic Flood

Donation protected
We, the Tunstall Family (Keith & Kristena, and their 16 y/o daughter Athena), suffered a catastrophic flood in our basement, where at the highest point it reached between 3 1/2 feet to 4 feet deep. The flood was caused due to the immense flooding that occurred across the state of Ohio during the week of May 18, with the flood beginning to happen some time in the early morning before 2am, and our sump pump being unable to keep up with the amount of water coming in. Our daughter alerted us, Keith and Kristena, at approximately 2:30am, at which point the water was around 6in to 8in deep.

Unfortunately, due to our homeowner's policy specifically involving sump pump coverage, we were only able to receive $10,000, which is to not only cover the loss of the entire finished basement, but all personal belongs as well. Not including the loss of all our personal belongs (which ranges at least in the $50k to $70k, if not more), the sump pump either needs to be replaced or some kind of upgrade to run properly, the complete loss of both our water heater and furnace (which both will cost close to $7k alone), the cost to have ServPro assistance to dry out the basement (estimate approximately $4,500), the two dumpsters that were necessary (where the first one completely filled up with all personal belongs in a 20ft x 10x x 10ft dumpster, and filling up the second one at about 90% - costing approx. $730), plus the complete rebuilding of the basement as this is where Kristena's home office was (as she works as a executive virtual assistant), Athena's bedroom (as she now doesn't have one now), and the bathroom, which we believe will cost at least $30,000 to rebuild. We also need to repair several cracks that were revealed once we removed the drywall that had never been treated before.

The unfortunately reality we are now facing is our daughter has lost most of her belongs, my husband, Keith, is active duty U.S. Army and retiring on June 13. We were planning to relocate, but the flood has put this on hold as we just don't have the funds to get the house ready to sell or replace so many necessary things (like our daughter's cloths, her iPad for high school, plus so many other things).

The video below was created with all the pictures taken from the time there was water in the basement to most recent day after most of the basement has been cleared out and cleaned up to this point.

Our immediate needs are to re-build a bedroom for our daughter as soon as possible as well as replacing the furnace that no longer works.

No matter how big or how small a contribution is, please know that we deeply appreciate anything you can donate.

As for way to help outside of donating money, we will need help rebuilding the basement. If you know of anyone who an electrician, plumber, HVAC person, or a carpenter who might be able to help, we'd great appreciate it as well.

Thank you again in advance for thinking of us.

Sincerely,

Keith, Kristena & Athena
