Kilkenny RFC Covid-19 Club Appeal

Donation protected
Hello

We hope you are keeping well during these bizarre times that we find ourselves in. As a club, as a sport and as a nation we have been dealt a significant blow, however well-being and health of the nation is the main priority. Through our club from Minis to Youths to Adults we have over 500 members. We cater for over 400 kids, aged between 6 and 18 years old. Furthermore, our Adult section, including Women and Men, caters for over 100 players. We have a long tradition of being a vibrant and united club, who pull together when necessary. Additionally we are a community club who values and has pride in our place. This is reflected by us opening our gates to local committees and charities, including  St Joseph's Church & Graveyard, The Relay For Life, The Cycle Against Suicide and Tour de Kilkenny Charity cycle race in aid of multiple national & local beneficiaries. This period is no different, however it has heightened the need for unity, togetherness and reliability. The halt in activity has been difficult, but we are slowly beginning to see some positivity.

To the significant detriment of Kilkenny RFC, a major effect of Covid-19 is that all of our scheduled fundraising events needed to be cancelled. This, unfortunately, included 4 Teen Discos, our Tag Rugby tournament, the Marble City 7s, our annual Golf Classic and our annual dinner dance. Additionally, further fundraising efforts for 2020 may need to be cancelled or reduced. Our Covid-19 Safety Team, headed by Padraig Treacy, is monitoring progress and will update in due course. Concerningly, as a club we estimate that the cancelling of these fundraising events and future events will see us loose approximately €40,000 of essential fundraising revenue alone. The finance raised from these events would be used to keep our club in operation and cover costs including, competition entry fees, electricity bills, flood lighting, insurance, gas, club upkeep, equipment, first aid and buses for youth teams etc. Without these essential funds, our club will fall into financial crisis and may not have the finance available to cover costs associated with next season. Last week, for the first time in 18 months, we needed to access our overdraft to pay outstanding bills and debts from last season. Compounding our efforts further, we were informed that as a consequence of the Covid-19 economic impact that our main sponsor, OSS, would be not be in a position to continue funding to the club. This will place another significant strain on our finances, making it all the more difficult for us to function efficiently.

For these reasons we are coming to you, our friends, members, players and supporters, to look for your financial support to help in keeping our club afloat and in operation. We understand in these times that not everyone might be in a position to help us financially but if you can contribute, whether large or small, we would really appreciate it. Funds raised will be allocated to essential club functions and ensuring there is a top class facility and equipment available to all our players and to the charities who frequently use our club grounds for their events.

We would like to thank you all in advance for your contribution and hope that the positive effects will be clear to see when you visit Foulkstown in the coming months.
