Military Veterans Need to Visit Their Families

IT IS TIME TO PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS.

IT IS GOOD TO SAY "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE," BUT NOW I NEED MORE FROM YOU. I NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic hit our country at the beginning of the year, we have all been in lockdown (self-quarantine), especially the elderly, as their immune systems are often compromised.

I am daily being contacted by senior citizen veterans of the United States military (many over the age of 80), asking for help with their computers. For the most part, I can help them over the phone or via Teamviewer (to look at their computer screen). I try very hard to not have to visit them directly as, although I am very healthy, I just do not want to make anybody uncomfortable or put anybody at risk. When I do, I make sure to wear a mask and insist on them doing  the same, and I make sure to distance myself from them. I get in, do the job, and get out.

However, since the lockdown, many of the senior citizen veterans I speak to do not have webcams on their computers, so they cannot visit their own children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren via Skype, Zoom, or other means.

Having grandchildren of my own, it is heartbreaking to see others going through this. I am fortunate enough to have a webcam, but many cannot afford them or having one, know how to install and configure it.

I have been repairing computers for many years (25+ years doing telephone technical support, helping people over the phone to identify computer problems and helping them to fix them). I have been doing this since before the invention of the internet, and near the beginning of Microsoft.

I am trying to give back to my personal heroes. Helping them with their computer problems so they can see their family and friends without putting themselves and others in danger.

The webcams shown below is just one example of a camera I can choose. There are many that are inexpensive, but the trade-off is that you lose quality. They have to be relatively modern, inexpensive, and simple enough that they will work on older computers. The other criteria is how fast they will arrive after ordered.

Please donate what you can. No amount is too little, but I am hoping to raise enough money to help as many senior citizen veterans as I can.

Although I am asking for $500, and the webcams are between $20-$50 each, there are many times when I need to actually replace parts (video cards, hard drives, speakers, etc) for a computer, and that costs more. The more you give, the more I can help.

Any money that is not used will be donated to the "Wings Over Wendys " non-profit organization.

THIS WAY WAY CAN GET THE WORD OUT AND HELP MANY MORE SENIOR CITIZEN VETERANS.
