Mates for Mates Bushfire Appeal

2 years ago I stood with James Houston at the altar as my best man. Now he is fighting trying to keep 5,500 cattle including 2,300 breeding cows alive after the bushfires wiped out 80% of their farm at Jingellic. This includes 150km of fencing and 200 cattle. He is currently feeding out 4 B Double semi trailers of hay a day to keep the cattle going. We are trying to get the surviving cows onto new feed until hopefully the Autumn break. We need land and we need transport costs covered.

We need about 4 acres for every cow. So far we have been donated the access to 600 acres which is great but we need more. It is going to costs us $2,000 per B Double trailer, which can take 50 cows, to transport these cows to the donated land which is in various parts of Victoria including central, southern and western Victoria. That is $40 per cow. So if we truck the surviving cows to new land it will cost us 2,300* $40 = $92,000

The balance of cattle they will have to keep feeding with hay. Please note that the government is only covering the transport cost of donated hay. All transport costs for privately purchased feed and trucking cattle is not covered.
There will be other costs, such as the feed and shade structure for the young cattle that are left and sheds and 150km of fences to re built. But right now we need to cover the costs of trucking the breeding cows off the farm and getting it to fresh land and that is going to cost them $92,000 and we need your help.
