Youth Suicide Prevention Summit
Donation protected
In the past several weeks, San Antonio-Texas has experienced 5 teen suicides. As a result, my team and I are planning to host the first-ever Youth Suicide Prevention Summit in San Antonio, this fall. An event that we plan to make an annual occurrence.
The event is slated for Sunday, September 20, 2020. Its venue is the Lila Cockrell Auditorium at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center on 900 Market Street. We are planning to host upwards of 1000 teens ages 8 to 24yr to a full day of activities that will enlighten, educate and empower them to live their lives more purposefully and with intention. They will leave the event with the knowledge that they are not alone, and help is not far away.
Parents are welcome to attend the opening festivities and stay for one breakout session.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg is the special VIP guest and will give the opening remarks. Other prominent dignitaries will also be present.
The theme of this inaugural year's event is "My Life Matters".
It will feature parents, teens and community partners like the YMCA, all dedicated to working towards our mission of a #suicidefreeworld, through spreading awareness, and education about suicide.
We shall also explore practical and effective measures for suicide prevention and look forward to creating a safe, nurturing, healthy environment for San Antonio children, teens and youth.
