Sin Fronteras Nuevo Mexico has started a gofundme account to help the immigrant community in Taos. The purpose of the funds will be to help in this time of COVID-19 pandemic to cover, bills, medicine, food, and child care. The majority of the immigrant community doesn't have any back up funds for emergencies like this and they solely depend on their jobs which could be affected by the shut down due to Coronavirus. We know what's coming is inevitable and SFNM is always thinking about ways to help the immigrant community since we know they worry about about these things above. We want them to also take care of themselves and their family and not have to worry about not having any funds to pay their bills.
With everyones help we have been able to support more than 150 immigrant families with no income during this crisis by help pay their outstanding bills so they can stay in their homes and we also helped with food boxes. We are requesting aid for the next round of support. We are working directly with these families who trust in us to help them. We are the only organization who has helped this vulnerable population for over four years in the community of Taos. SFNM has helped by bringing the Mexican Consulate, medical bills, DACA renewals, Legal and educational work shops, and we have made 7 border trips to also support with donations at the border for the asylum seekers.
Every single donation that you contribute goes directly to the families and children, we have a goal of $15,000 to support these families with help paying their outstanding bills for the month of April and May also to provide the food boxes coming every Sunday for the immigrant families, plus the new ones who keep reaching out to Sin Fronteras NM!
