Wild Rumpus 2021 New Tech Capital Campaign

For Immediate Release:

Greetings, friends, this is Patrick Ferguson, Wild Rumpus Ambassador & Assistant Rumpopotomus, speaking on behalf of my favorite Halloween event and yours, our Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle...

The Wild Rumpus would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our celebration this year, despite all of the weirdness and hardship that everyone is facing in these difficult times. We were able to continue to showcase the stupendous amount of talent and unique spirit of wonder that has typified Athens for many years.

With the news that effective vaccines for the Covid 19 epidemic are coming in the early part of the new year, it seems likely that Wild Rumpus 2021 will be our biggest and wildest celebration, yet. We suspect that you are looking forward to that as much as we are.

As Dr Hunter S Thompson once said, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." With that in mind, we'd like to announce to the world that The Wild Rumpus is now officially a 501c3 non-profit, and all donations to our organization are now tax deductible.

We'd also like to announce our first small capital campaign to bring our technology up to 21st Century standards. All of the planning, logo design, booking, and correspondence that we used to organize this year's (and every previous year's) Wild Rumpuses was done on a VERY old computer. It is nearing the very end of its useful life, and we'd like to humbly ask the friends of the Wild Rumpus to make a tax deductible contribution to help us get some new machines.

Our goal is modest: $3500 for a portable computer, a good display, a decent printer, and the necessary software packages.

The Wild Rumpus will survive the pandemic, sadly unlike some other Athens arts institutions. The Rumpus is part of the culture of our community, and people come to Athens from all over the country to be a part of it. In past years, we have donated the proceeds from the Rumpus to local charities to help preserve some of what makes Athens a special, creative, and safe place for artists. 2021 will be no different.

Help us protect the arts in Athens. Help us keep Athens weird.

Athens, we love you.
