Cabaret for Change

As you know, COVID-19 has massively affected communities all over the world. However, one of the lesser known circles being affected by this outbreak are local theatres and artists.


Due to the current quarantine measures being instituted, live performances around the world are being cancelled/postponed. This becomes an issue as certain local theatres may not be able to reopen their doors after being closed for 2+ months. As theatre kids, we found this absolutely heartbreaking, as these theatres and their communities have always opened their arms and given us a safe place to express ourselves. We decided it was our turn to fight for these theatres like they have fought for us.


Therefore, a few of us got together to create Cabaret for Change, a non-profit led by youth from around the Phoenix area to raise money for our 501(c)3+ youth theatres. Watching these theatres, our homes, have to face the possibilities of permanently closing their doors is something we can’t bear to watch and we need to do something about. Our plan is to put together a livestream cabaret fundraiser for the following 501(c)3+ Youth Theatres: Spotlight Youth Theatre, Greasepaint Youth Theatre, and Desert Stages Theatre. The livestream, in tandem with this GoFundMe page would work to collect money in order to help these theatres pay rent and keep their doors open.
