Buena Semilla Fundraising Campaign 2021

Women living in remote Maya communities of Guatemala named our project Buena Semilla (Good Seed). Together we plant seeds of growth, connection, and empathy, grow powerful networks of support and collaboration, and aim for health and wellbeing across generations.
For 10 years our community-based work has nurtured the health and wellbeing of indigenous populations of Guatemala. Our Circles have provided space for over 500 women - and over 150 men! - to share their experiences, find emotional support and collectively build solutions to the problems they face.
2020 has been a year of great challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the communities where we work particularly hard - economically, physically and emotionally. We innovated quickly to meet the needs of local women and men. Thanks to the support of our incredible global community, in March, our Circles became virtual!!!
We have learned much in this last year about the power of group connection through technology, and that of small life-affirming projects, such as planting seeds for greater food sovereignty, starting community gardens and urban agriculture, creating art, and sharing coping strategies but also stories, dance, music, song through group messaging. These activities have helped women, men and children get through this unprecedented time. We have cultivated many lessons to carry us through into 2021. And the gratitude of participants is beyond words.
We’re asking for your help to raise $10,000 to support Buena Semilla’s work into the new year.
Your contribution will help us sustain our Women’s Circles and continue supporting both women and men to support each other - while addressing solutions to social isolation in times of COVID-19 and developing strategies for project self-sustainability.
· $5 buys seeds for one participant for one year, for increased food sovereignty;
· $20 buys one month of connectivity for one participant;
· $100 supports one community leader for 1 month, to support other women through Circle and one-on-one;
· $1,200 supports one Women's Circles for one year
