Backstory
MVMNT has a been a fixture in the Bay Area since 2012 hosting weekly classes, annual youth arts camps, events, community gatherings, and overall amazing experiences
The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected us all and especially the small business community in the bay area.
MVMNT was in danger of closing permanently in 2020/21 but with all the community efforts and all the kind donations we managed to survive and hold on to our space for the new era
Right Now
We're unbelievably grateful to still have our space, but our work is far from over. During the pandemic our building was put up for sale and recently sold in Aug 2021 with the new owners plans of converting into a medical facility
With protection from our previous lease we have rights to stay in the space till our original contract is up (in 2024) as long as we're in good standing with the lease.
The Problem
We're facing a new amendment to our lease which includes a small discount of 15% for the next 6 months but an additional deposit of 2x the monthly rent due ASAP... so a total of 3 months rent due going into Oct.
We had surrendered all funds/deposits to the previous owner to cover as much as we could for the months we were forced to shut down. At this time, we barely have enough to pay a month at a time as we're still building our memberships back, let alone additional months in advance.
The Solution
We're coming out fighting... offering enrollment promotions, merchandise sales, upcoming events and sharing our story to help raise funds for the following;
New Building Deposit + 3 Months Rent
Hire 2 Part Time Employees
Add New Classes - Popping, Turfin, & Primary and Youth Instruction
Storefront Branding/Signage
Step 1- raise 10k per month till the end of the year (3 months = 30k) to give us some padding going into the slower holiday season
Step 2 - In 2022 our plans are to expand our efforts to build and raise up enough funds throughout the year for a downpayment on a building we can own
Big dreams, strong work ethic and a passion that burns is what keep me motivated
