Help Her365 Fitness Survive the COVID-19 Shutdown
We need your help to save our women's studio gym and wellness community!
We were just coming off the excitement of our annual International Women's Day celebration on March 8th when the threat of Covid-19 started to get really real here in Contra Costa County.
Dejah (my daughter) and I stepped our cleaning and disinfecting and sanitizing and practiced social distancing in our classes. Our senior and immune-compromised members played it safe by minimizing and then ultimately ceasing their visits so they could reduce their risk of exposure.
Then, on 3/16/2020 our gym, along with other "non-essential" businesses was ordered to close in response to the shelter-in-place orders imposed by our state and local government.
This means that:
→ members whose gym check-ins we would normally report to insurance companies don't get to check-in anymore and we don't get paid. Our membership consists of 37% of insurance members so the loss of their check-in income during this time has hit us very hard.
→ because we have a physical location, our billing company is not allowing is to bill our members because we are not able to provide the same services (namely, gym access) that we provided before even though we are providing virtual classes and resources for keeping up workouts. Billing of our members ceased on 4/13.
→ we're continuing to incur expenses, namely rent, electricity as well as compensation for our instructors even while our revenue has taken a hit due to the closure. Yes, we could cease operations completely, but we are committed to providing the women in our community access to fitness, especially during this global health crisis. By continueing to serve, we are providing an option for women to destress and keep some normalcy through community, sisterhood, and physical activity.
By (literally overnight) moving our group fitness classes online and launching our fitness app and member portal, we have been able to continue to serve many of our members without really missing a beat.
We've applied for the SBA PPP and the EIDL and several other grant options for small businesses impacted by COVID-19 but our bills are due daily and we no longer have the revenue to cover the expenses.
We need your help to keep our rent, utilities, and instructors paid so that we can continue to move forward our mission of inspiring women through fitness, sisterhood, and community now, and once we are able to safely reopen.

Her365 Fitness is a studio gym and wellness community for all women, including those self-identify and consistently live as women.
In 2018, Marissa Rivera-Davis, a dance fitness instructor and women's wellness coach, founded Her365 Fitness to help other women reclaim their self-worth through physical activity, community, and sisterhood. At Her365, we inspire women through fitness.
We focus not on weight-loss or an ideal body image but on building self-confidence while promoting overall fitness and wellbeing. In addition to our 24-hour access gym, we offer a variety of classes that suit those just starting out to those who are looking to up their fitness game. From Boot Camp to Yoga, to Zumba® there's something for all fitness abilities and energy levels. Our classes are led by friendly, motivating, certified & licensed instructors and have a comfortable, supportive, and fun atmosphere.
Our staff and instructors encourage and support our members in looking beyond their weight and unrealistic body image "ideals" to redefine and achieve their fitness goals through sisterhood and community. We also celebrate the critical importance of sisterhood and community.
