Let's make a Mask Factory to fight COVID-19!

Help us donate 100,000 protective masks to hospitals in need, every month!
There is currently a global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) worldwide. It has resulted in inflated prices, and supplies are running out. Healthcare workers need this equipment, but if we fundraise to buy it on the international market we may be creating a bigger problem. That would contribute to the price inflation, and we would be buying supplies that someone else need even more. Because of the shortage, several countries are closing their borders to exports, and it may soon be impossible to import PPE supplies.
But what if we can crowdfund a factory? This way we would secure made in Canada production, work against the price inflation, and ensure a continuous donation of 100,000 masks to hospitals in need every month for the duration of the crisis. The factory will require workers, and so will also create jobs in a time when unemployment is rising at unprecedented rates.
About us
Nova Institute is an educational institute located in Mississauga, Ontario. As a small business we are feeling the consequences of the outbreak, with all our in-person classes suspended until further notice.
At the same time our thoughts are with the healthcare workers who risk their lives at the frontline of the war on COVID-19 to keep us all safe.
With no classes to teach, our team is now working to find the best way we can help.
So, what is the current status?
We have located a supplier for the machinery and materials we need, and will be shipping it by plane to get started as soon as possible. The machines will be able to produce surgical masks and N95 masks that meet Canadian medical standards.
Donation goal:
100,000 masks per month for the duration of the crisis.
Masks will be donated based on need.
To pull this off we need:
- Mask making machinery: $100,000
- Materials: $ 20,000
We will contribute the space and workers.
