For immigrant families, the COVID-19 crisis is an impossible challenge and it’ll take all of us to help them through it, as 90% do not qualify for public aid. At this special event, a few of the supported families will share their stories of resilience through the COVID-19 situation, and their gratitude for our contributions.
I’m Ivan and I’ve spent my life helping others always with the support of my amaZINg friends. On 2017, with your support, we raised funds to support around 600 families in Peru after the El Nino floods destroyed over 115,000 homes and took many lives. Today, ur goal is to directly help around 500 families in South Philly and Northeast Philly with essential needs.
Here’s how the money is used:
- For parents, like some Zumba instructors who lost their jobs at gyms due to COVID-10 and has no access to rent relief, we’ll help keep a roof over their head and avoid the trauma of homelessness.
- We’ll provide to obtain home internet access for children enrolled in online classes. This is timely, as Comcast’s free internet program for vulnerable families scales back in July.
- Cover mobile phone bills of parents who need to remain in touch with their kid’s schools, social workers and doctors. As studies show many are experiencing increased anxiety during this time, we’ll help these families remain in contact with their therapists and other wellness services.
- Pay for over-the-counter medications, as many families lack insurance plans and have no access to prescriptions.
We’ve faced challenges before as a county, and we have a track record of uniting in uncertain times, rebounding and rising stronger together. So let’s rise together by lifting each other up. Donate today and get ready to Zumba!
